Ken was the second of eight children of Frank Norman Shoudt and Anna Mariah 'Rita' Burroughs. His middle name was his mother's maiden name. He grew up in Upper Black Eddy and Trenton, Mercer Co., New Jersey.

He was forced to curtail his education in order to help provide for his younger brothers and sisters. He went to work at the Riegel Paper Corporation across the Delaware River in Milford, Hunterdon Co., New Jersey.

Ken was married twice. His first wife was Margaret Wehrung, whom he married in 1936. They had a son. They were divorced.

His second wife was Doris May Edinger, whom he wed in 1947. They had two daughters.

He resided in Upper Black Eddy, Milford and Riegelsville.

Ken was a good baseball player in his youth. He loved drinking beer, and he had a fun sense of humor and a twinkle in his eyes. He always enjoyed getting together with his brothers and sisters and having a good time.

He was the grandfather of six and the great-grandfather of four as of mid-2008. One grandson is 'Humble' Bob Shoudt, a world champion competitive eater.

He passed away from a heart attack late at night on Aug. 2, 1977, but the doctor did not certify his death until after midnight.

Thank you so much to Beverly G. Kirby-McDonough, who so kindly found, photographed and uploaded Ken's grave marker to this memorial, and to Cindy Shoudt Reddi, who gave me permission to use the dapper photo of Ken.
