Miss Emily Steele was born at East Bloomfield, Ontario County, New York, February 3, 1861; died at her home near Nelson, March 22, 1895 being 34 years, 1 month and 19 days old.

Miss Steel graduated from Breckport State Normal School at the age of 20. She spent several years teaching school in her native state. She then spent one year at her favorite calling as a teacher in the State of Alabama. She came to Nebraska in the fall of 1889, and began teaching in this county in January 1890.

She was married to J.F. Lee in June 1892, whose joys and sorrows she has shared until God called her to share with him the joys of heaven.

Some twelve years ago she gave her heart to Christ and united with the First Presbyterian Church of East Bloomfield, N.Y. About one year ago she transferred her church membership from East Bloomfield, N.Y. to the First Presbyterian Church of Nelson.

Mrs. Lee was a loving faithful wife and did all in her power to make her home, homelike for her husband and Mr. Lee's aged mother who made her home with them. Though a great sufferer from the dread disease consumption, which cut short her life, yet she was always cheerful and hopeful, bearing her sufferings without a murmur.

In her death a husband has lost a loving faithful wife, the brother and sister a kind, thoughtful sister; this neighborhood a friend and neighbor that will be greatly missed. She has gone never to return to earth again, and we would not call her back for she has gone to be with Jesus where she is free from pain and sickness.
