James K. Stouffer, formerly of Birmingham, Ala., died Monday, Oct. 29, 2001.


He was born Dec. 7, 1906, in Connellsville, the son of Charles and Emma Keck Stouffer.


He lived at Denton (Texas) Good Samaritan Village for 14 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Denton, having transferred his membership from Fairfield (Alabama) Presbyterian Church, where he had been a member for 49 years and also served as a deacon and an elder.


He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Fairfield, Ala., F&AM #749.


He was employed by U.S. Steel in both Monessen, Pa., and Fairfield, Ala., as a supervisor in the quality control department. He retired after 37 &*#189; years of service.


His wife, Verna Kistler Stouffer, preceded him in death and to Heaven Nov. 12, 2000.


He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and David Ellis of Denton, Texas; several nieces and nephews in Pennsylvania; and many wonderful friends.


Memorial services will be held in the chapel at Denton Good Samaritan, 2500 Hinkle Drive, Thursday, Nov. 1, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Mack Tomlinson officiating. His family requests that memorials be made to Denton Good Samaritan Health Center. Burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham, Ala., on the afternoon of Monday, Nov. 12.
