Frances A. Amend, 80, died May 31, 2001, at Hutchinson Hospital in Hutchinson, Kansas. She was born Sept. 11, 1920, at Sterling, KS, the daughter of William A. and Anna B. Bieber Buxton. She was a 1939 graduate of Sterling High School and attended Sterling College.

She married W.L. "Les" Amend on Feb. 13, 1942 in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

A lifelong resident of Sterling, she was a retired bookkeeper for Les Amend Chevrolet of Sterling. Mrs. Amend was a member of United
Methodist Church and Wednesday Night Bridge Club, both of Sterling.

Survivors included her husband of the home; one
son, Richard Amend of Wichita; one daughter, Susie Unruh of Sterling; three grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren.
