John married Eliza Macomb in 1829. John N. Rose became a citizen of Yates Co., NY, and purchased 1,058 acres of land on the east side of the west branch of Keuka Lake, of which his title to 250 acres was found to be invalid, but he retained the rest. In 1838, he erected a stone mansion overlooking the Lake; it was named Esperanza. He sold 362 acres of the land from the south side to his nephew, Robert S. Rose, and gave 185 acres to his wife's nephew, John N. Macomb, Jr. There is no record of his children, if any, in the History. (2011 Esperanza is a hotel.)
