The following was written by the memorial's creator, Elizabeth Reed:

"Daughter of Orpah Bass and Franklin Morgan. Wife of Daniel Cleveland Evans. Mary Ann did all the sewing and helped her mother cook and keep house. She married Cleveland in 1912. While farming in South Carolina, Mary Ann got typhoid fever. The doctor wanter her to move in with her parents to get better care. So early in the morning they put a mattress and springs in the wagon and brought her to her parents home before sunrise. She got better and went back to her own home. She was always doing a lot for other people. When someone died they had to be buried as soon as possible but she made the the burial clothes ready on time. Died of heart failure at age 81."
