Junior Ray Connor, 70, of Sutton, died Wednesday, July 27, 1994 at home after a long illness.

He was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMW. He was an army veteran and a Baptist.

Surviving: wife, Erma Wilda Hamrick Connor; sons, James "Smokey", Ben, Don and Jerry of Sutton, Johnny of Greenville, VA, Gene of Vienna; daughters, Shirley Salisbury and Patricia Given of Sutton; brother, Frank Conner of Charleston, half brothers, Jack Conner of Valley Fork, Charles Cantrell of Duck, Jimmy and Bruce Cantrell of Medina, Ohio, Porter Cantrell of Charlotte, NC, Alfred Cantrell of Procious, Elwood Cantrell of Procious, Elwood Cantrell of Yadkinville, NC; half-sisters, Wilma Jean Godbey of Big Chimney, Betty Hunt of West Union, Nancy Jones of Dunbar, Gertrude Bess of Charleston, 19 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Green-Robertson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Donaldson and the Rev. Robey Godfrey officiating. Burial will be in Canfield Cemetery with Military rites.
