Mr. Pontius died Feb. 12, 2007, in Carson City.
He was born April 3, 1923, in Ridgeway, Mo., to Ernest and Orpha Pontius. Before moving to Carson City, Mr. Pontius lived in Fallon.
He owned Preferred Trenching, and served in the U.S Navy during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nina Pontius, in November 1988.
Among his survivors are his longtime companion, Faye Spencer; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Mike Olson; sons and daughters-in-law Ernest and Sheila Pontius and Durvasa "Victor" and Isani Alahan; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
