Alice Roberts Aldridge, 95, died Aug. 13, 2008, of natural causes in Titusville, Fla.
She was born June 5, 1913, in Reddick, Fla., to parents, Isaac Bailey Roberts and Alice Idella Brown Roberts. She was raised in Decatur, but resided mainly in Chattanooga, Tenn. During 1951 through 1967, she worked as a foster parent for the state of Tennessee. She and her husband, Ernest, operated Aldridge Marine. They were both charter members of Saint John United Methodist Church.
Predeceased by spouse, Ernest W. Aldridge (2000), daughter, Sandra Faye Jones (1988), granddaughter, Susan Jones de Blanc (2001); and six brothers.
Surviving are daughters, Brenda W. Tomberlin of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Jane Aldridge of Titusville, Fla.; grandson, Grant Wallace of Hixson, Tenn.; great-granddaughters, Danielle Wallace of Hixson, Tenn., and Claire Alise de Blanc of Bellaire, Texas; sisters, Ruth Grantland and Roberta Roberts; and brothers, Neal and Van Roberts.
Funeral services will be held Sunday Aug. 17, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Saint John United Methodist Church, 3921 Murray Hills Drive, Chattanooga, Tenn. Rev. Sherry Boles officiating. Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Saturday Aug. 16, 2008, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, Tenn.
