Robert Tinker


Robert W. "Bob" Tinker, 73, of 618 Hwy. 250, Vevay, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999, at his residence.


He was born on May 10, 1926, in Fairview, the son of Elbert A. "Bert" and Edna Gilliland Tinker. He was owner of Tinker Equipment near Fairview from 1968 until May 1995. He did custom farm work and mechanic work for local farmers, was a member of Oliver Hart-Parr Association Antique Tractor Club. He was also a member of Switzerland County 4-H, and received his 30-year award at this year's Switzerland County 4-H Fair.


He was a member of the American Legion, Post 185, in Vevay; Switzerland County Tractor Pullers Association; Switzerland County Farm Bureau; Bennington Conservation Club; and Fairview United Methodist Church; was past president of Switzerland County Soil & Water Conservation; and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.


Surviving are his wife, Gladys Ruth Branham Tinker; two sons, Donald Wayne "Butch" Tinker of Fairview and Robert Lee "Pee Wee" Tinker of Pleasant; one daughter, Donna Jean Tinker of Fairview; six grandchildren; and four great-greatchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Lou Ann Tinker; one son, Tommy Lynn Tinker; and one brother, Wilbur Gilliland Tinker.


Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay, with burial in Vevay Cemetery.


Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.


Full military rites will conducted at the graveside by the Vevay American Legion and Vevay Veterans of Foreign Wars.


Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Switzerland County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, or Hospice of Southern Indiana.

He was the son of Elbert Tinker and Edna Louise Gilliland. He married Gladys Ruth Branham on 16 April 1945 in LaGrange, Oldham Co, KY.
