Karl W. Kahlenberg, age 66, of Two Rivers, died Friday afternoon, February 4, 2000, at his residence, following a courageous battle
with cancer.

Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 6, 2000,(TODAY) at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ, Two Rivers. Rev. Kim Henning will officiate at the service. Entombment will be in Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth.

Karl was born October 29, 1933, in Two Rivers, son of the late William J. and Cecelia Marling Kahlenberg. He was a graduate of Lake Forest Academy High School in Lake Forest, Ill, and a 1952 graduate of Denison University, Granville, Ohio. He then served with the United States Army from 1956 until 1958. Mr. Kahlenberg was employed at Kahlenberg Bros. for over 40 years, currently serving as president. On September 29, 1984, he was married to Janice (Loehner) Kappelmann at Las Vegas, Nev. Karl was currently
an active member of the Two Rivers Elks Lodge #1380, where he was a past exalted ruler and trustee, a proud member of the Two Rivers
Kiwanis Club, where he was a past president, past Lt. governor and a state board member and was also the recipient of the Hixson Award.
He was past chairman of the Board of Directors of Roger's Street Fishing Village, he served on the Board of Directors of the American Cancer Society, was a past president of the Chamber of Commerce, and an active member and advisor to the Wisconsin Maritime Museum. He was also a member of the Manitowoc Yacht Club, Two Rivers Shrine Club, the Door County Maritime Museum, the Society of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineers, and a charter member of the Healthcare Coalition.

Mr. Kahlenberg was a second degree mason. The Chamber of Commerce through several nominations recently awarded Karl with the 1999 Joseph
P. Schmitt Speak Up Award. Karl was a member of Branch River Country Club. He was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter and bridge player and enjoyed bird watching.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Fredrick Kahlenberg.
Friends may call at Grace Congregational Church, Two Rivers, after 12:30
p.m. on Sunday, (TODAY) until the time of service at 3 p.m.
(Please note) Two Rivers Kiwanis will meet as a group to pay their respects at 12:30 p.m. and a short Masonic Service will begin the funeral
service at 3 p.m.
