Virgil Jewel Stone, 65 died Monday night in a Bowie hospital following a heart attack. Stone, who moved to Bowie from Lawton, Oklahoma 3 years ago, was born in Grady Oklahoma.
Funeral Services were held Wednesday at 3 p.m. from the Burgess Memorial Chapel with the Rev. R.L. Partridge, pastor of the Union Hill Baptist Chirch officiating.
Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.
Survivors include his widow Leola; 5 sons, J.C., Billy & Jimmy Stone, all of Decatur, Jack Stone of Italy and Don Stone of Arlington; 4 daughters, Mrs. Leonard Ratliff of Boyd, Mrs. L.C. Laster of Arlington, Mrs. Eugene Reynolds of Graham & Mrs. Tommy Mitchum of Bridgeport; his mother, Mrs. Mary Stone of Decatur; 3 brothers, Herman and Wilton Stone of Decatur & Bryant Stone of Lubbock, & 4 sisters, Mrs. Dee H. Roach of Lubbock, Mrs. W.H. Shepherd of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, Mrs. Ted Roach of Gainesville, Mrs. Eula Faye Jones of Sacramento, California.
