Son of Henry John and Rose Catherine (Friedlin) Mueth.

William Mueth served in the army in World War II. He was a staff sergeant in the 13th Armored Division in France and Germany in 1944 and 1945. He and his two brothers, Raymond and Richard, were all in the service at the same time during the war.

Married Ruth Loide Polster on October 21, 1950. William and Ruth lived in St. Louis for many years.

They are the parents of Joan Dianne and Barbara Jean Mueth.

William worked for the railroad most of his life--first at the Katy Railroad, where he met Ruth, his future wife--then at the Frisco. When the Frisco Railroad moved its headquarters from St. Louis to Springfield, MO, in about 1961, the family relocated to Springfield.

William Mueth was listed in the Who's Who in Railroading in North America in 1968.
