John Petrowski (aka John Petroske), the fifth child of Franz & Julianna Suszyski Pietrowski, was born in Germany on June 23,1878 His father and older brother Felix emigrated to America in June 1882 and settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A year and a half later in November 1883, at the age of five and a half, John, his mother Julianna, brother Anton and sisters Marianna and Helena joined their father and brother in Milwaukee.


John Petrowski enlisted in the U.S. Army on September 23, 1898. During the Spanish American War/Philippine Insurrection, John was sent to the Philippines where the American troops engaged in brutal combat with Filipino guerilla fighters. After the war and his discharge from the army, John Petrowski returned to Wisconsin where he resided until his death on January 14, 1945.
