Professional Basketball Player. Born in Harvey, Illinois, he played at the center position for eleven seasons (1986 to 1997) in the National Basketball Association with the San Antonio Spurs, Portland Trail Blazers, Washington Bullets, Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Clippers. He was a member of the 1989-1990 and 1991-1992 Portland Trail Blazers teams that reached the NBA Finals. He appeared in 67 career post season games with a 11.7 points per game average and a 5.9 rebounds per game average. His other career highlights include two-time NBA All Star selection (1989, 1991) and was named the 1987-1988 NBA Most Improved Player. After playing collegiate basketball at Eastern Illinois University, Duckworth was chosen by the Spurs in the 2nd round of the 1986 NBA Draft and appeared in 684 career regular season games, scoring 8,085 points with 3,945 rebounds. He died suddenly at the age of 44. (bio by: C.S.)

I really enjoyed watching you play in the NBA. I tell young kids of today that the players of the past are to tough for what we have today. You were an example of that toughness that made the NBA in the eighties and Nineties. Rest now and be at peace.|
