Ole O. Ness, an old and highly respected citizen of Tansem township, died at the hospital for the insane at Fergus Falls, Sunday evening, after a protracted illness. The remains were shipped here on Tuesday and were taken to the late home in Tansem. The deceased was 76 years old, a native of Norway, and was one of the oldest settlers in Clay county, having located on a farm in Tansem township in the pioneer days when there were no settlers between his home and Fort Abercrombie or Moorhead, and has resided in the town of Tansem for the past thirty-six years. About eleven years ago, he became mentally unbalanced and was at that time committed to the hospital at Fergus Falls. However, owing to his partial recovery at times, he spent much of his time at his home until about a year ago, when he was again committed to the hospital for treatment. He served in the army for three years during the war of the rebellion, having enlisted from Iowa. – Barnesville Record Review.
