Husband of Hester (Flommerfelt) Apgar and Alley (Pierce) Apgar.
David Apgar (1824-1909)was born in New Jersey, and moved to Illinois in 1866, where he lived, as far as I can tell, the rest of his life. He is buried in Pierce Cemetery in Iroquois County, Illinois. He was twice married. I do not know the name of his first wife, but he had a son by that marriage: Ambrose Apgar. David married Allie Pierce Cottrell (1841-1914) in 1867 and had four children by his second marriage: Harry, Mary, William, and Bertha (I am descended through Bertha, born 1880). Allie Pierce was also previously married, to John Cottrell in 1861. He died about 1866. Three children were born to that marriage. Only one of them, a Mrs. Alice Stump, was still alive at the time of Allie's death in 1914. All of this information is taken from Watseka, Illinois obituaries for David in 1909 and Allie in 1914. The obituary for David indicates he married Allie in 1867, but Allie's obituary states the same event as occurring in 1868. The 1900 census (Illinois; Iroquois County; City of Watseka; Middleport Township)indicates that they had been married 33 years at that time, which supports the 1867 date.
