On Friday evening, Mr. Hogue climbed onto a tubular chrome kitchen chair to reach a cupboard at his home in Klamath Falls. The slick chrome legs of the chair slipped on the floor as he climbed up. Mr. Hogue struck the back of the
chair when he fell; his weight shattered the wooden back. The exposed chrome tube stabbed completely through his body, entering his back just above the hip and coming out through the abdomen.
His wife, alone with him at the time, extracted the tube, and he was rushed at once to the hospital. He expired at 9:07 Saturday evening.
He was born at Selma, but had lived for the past 25 years at Klamath Falls.
