The son of Carl R. and Willa (Robbins) Mendenhall, Jim was born in Decatur Co., IN, graduated from Greensburg H.S.in 1938, attended Indiana University, and received his DVM from Ohio State U. School of Veterinary Medicine in 1944. After serving in the US Army during WWII, Jim established a veterinary practice in Greensburg. He also was a successful farmer.
