Ernestine H. Rushing, age 98, of Pinckneyville, IL, passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at 5:17 a.m. in Pinckneyville Community Hospital, Pinckneyville, IL.
Ernestine was born on April 21, 1910 in Pinckneyville, IL, a daughter to Ira C. and Helena E. (Lacy) Jenkel. She married Orval Rushing on August 21, 1928 and he preceded her in death. Ernestine was a member of the Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL, she dearly loved her church and served as a church pianist for several area churches. She worked at Walker's 5&10 as a clerk, Perry Manor Nursing Home, Decca Records, and Guenther's Grocery Store.
She is survived by her daughter: Phyllis Joyce Scherle of Martinsville, IN, four sons: Larry G. (Mary Frances) Rushing, Ira D. (Evelyn) Rushing, Marion (Bonnie) Rushing, all of Pinckneyville, IL and Maurice D. (Leola) Rushing of Steeleville, IL, fourteen grandchildren: Marla Scherle, Darla (Richard) Crone, Carole (Robert) Kinder, Janice (Keith) Halstead, Kyle (Christi) Rushing, Laura (David) Moore, Lynne Rushing, Mark Rushing, Brian (Betsy) Rushing, Pamela (Mark) Hall, Chad (Cheri) Rushing, Troy (Pamela) Rushing, Lana (Ron) Mayer, Jeff (Angela) Rushing, thirteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother: Harold Jenkel, two sisters: Velma J. Huth and Myrtle Meyer, a grandson: Parry Don Rushing, and a son-in-law: Pastor Kenneth Scherle.
Funeral services will be at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Mark Lee officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, IL.
Friends may call at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
