Mr. Gerhart was born in Germany. He had been a resident of Springfield for the last fifty years, and was a well known German resident. He retired from active business pursuits about twenty years ago. The illness which resulted in his death was not of long duration. He contracted a cold on the day which his son-in-law, Robert Stock, died. This with complications resulted in his death. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Catherine Gerhart; one daughter, Mrs. Thomas Stock; one son, Charles Gerhart, and one brother residing in Germany.
