Married to Rosina Schuler with whom he had 10 children. They came to the United States in 1906 and settled in Pennington County, South Dakota. They had 10 children only one of whom was born in the United States. Children are Wilhelm, Heinrich, Lydia, Jacob, Beata, Amalie, Alexander, Bernhard and Anne all of whom were born in Russia with youngest son Edwin H born in Quinn. Second marriage to Rosina Walters from whom he was divorced within just a couple of years and third marriage to Rosina Eisenbraun whom he married in 1929.

Information from the Galbraith Mortuary in Wall, his father was Martin born in GErmany, his mother unknown. He died of heart failure, he was married and a Lutheran he died in Quinn.
