Mina S. Deihl, 81, of Corpus Christi, passed away Monday, July 29, 1991 in a local nursing home after a long illness. She was born in Corpus Christi on October 9, 1909 to S. C. Roper and Georgia Holbrook Roper, who were members of South Texas pioneer families. The Bill Roper American Legion Post #364 was named in honor of her brother who was killed in World War I. From 1941 until 1945 she was a lady chauffeur at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station. She also worked as a waitress for many years at the Marine Post Exchange at NAS. She is survived by her son, Major Raphael P. Parry Jr., USA Ret., of Corpus Christi; one daughter, Betty Carroll of Highlands, Texas; one sister, Ruby Poenish of Corpus Christi; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 30, 1991 at Seaside Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Wednesday, July 31, 1991 at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Paul E. Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
