Died, at 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon, Feb. 24, 1910, at the residence, 421 West Canedy street, Mrs. Jennie Petre, aged 82 years 3 months and 20 days. The decedent, one of the oldest residents of the city, was born in Harrisburg, Pa., Nov. 4, 1827, and came to Illinois thirty-seven years ago. For the past twenty-six years she has been a resident of Springfield. She was a faithful and consistent member of the Seventh Day Adventist church.
Mrs. Petre is survived by two sons, Ambrose (Silas Ambrose Beeman) of Lincoln, Neb., and N. D. (Napoleon B. Beeman) of Bagley, Pa.; three daughters, Mrs. Gertrude J. (Jane Gertrude Beeman) Hicks of Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Minnie (Asa Ann Beeman)Stewart of Chicago and Mrs. George (Ora Hyland) Tuttle of this city. The funeral will be held at the residence and at the Church of the Seventh Day Adventist. The interment will be in Oak Ridge cemetery. IL State Journal, Springfield, IL 2-25-1910
