Altha Edwards, 87, of Kennett, formerly of Holcomb, Mo., died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett.
Born April 29, 1921, in Campbell, Mo., daughter of the late Walter and Bess Williams Brigman, she was a graduate of the University of Arkansas and was a retired teacher from Holcomb School.

On June 5, 1939, she married Lester Edwards, who preceded her in death on April 17, 2001.

She will be loved and missed by her son Paul Edwards and wife, Vickki, of Memphis, Tenn.; nieces and nephews, Penny Todd, of Campbell, Mo., Nora Hardin, of Dexter, Mo., Belva Sinyard, of Holcomb, Bill Brigman, of Campbell, Kelly Brigman, of Minnesota, Denny Brigman, of Colorado, Larry and Carolyn Edwards , of Corning, Ark., and Jim and Mae Edwards, of Piedmont, Mo.; nine great-nieces and nephews; 12 great-great-nieces and nephews and more than 2000 students who she taught during her 30 years plus teaching career.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 a.m., Friday, Oct. 17, at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 17, at the McDaniel Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Edwards officiating.

Burial will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
