Clarence L. Pitzer, 75, Hutchinson, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 20, 2008. He was born March 13, 1933, in Partridge, the son of Paul and Bessie Hill Pitzer. A lifelong Hutchinson resident, he was a former employee of Kelly Flour Mill, Morton Salt, and Dillon Living Center.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.

He belonged to Westside Baptist Church.

On Sept. 11, 1953, he married Carol Dean Birt, in Hutchinson. She died Feb. 22, 2005. Survivors include: two sons, Douglas J. and wife, Debra, South Hutchinson, and Rick and wife Kim, Hutchinson; a daughter, Kay Hermes and husband, John, Hutchinson; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Pitzer, Amy Pitzer, Justin Pitzer, Melissa Pitzer, Jason Pitzer, Mary Kathryn Hermes, and Joseph Hermes; a great-grandson, Braxton Pitzer; three brothers, Kenneth Pitzer, Arcadia, Calif., Jimmie Pitzer, Hutchinson, and Phillip Pitzer, Partridge; and two sisters, Edith Milano, Santa Fe Springs, Calif., and Emma Cessna, Hutchinson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John Odus Pitzer, and two sisters, Lorene Anna Pitzer Lewis, and Pearl Jaunita Pitzer Grant.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Westside Baptist Church, Hutchinson, with Pastor Eldon Smith presiding. Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Hutchinson, with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson. Memorials may be sent to the church, in care of the funeral home.
