CULVER STONE

Judge Culver Stone died at his home, one mile east of Joe Bailey School House, in Pleasant Grove Community, Tuesday, January 5, at 1 a.m.
Mr. Stone was born in Arkansas, October 18, 1872, living to the age of three score years and ten. He came to Oklahoma or at that time known as the Indian Territory when he was 14 years of age, and lived there during his early manhood and was married to Miss Mary McLelland May 29, 1892.
Nine children were born to this union, five sons and four daughters all surviving.
Mr. Stone was converted and joined the Baptist Church 27 years ago and was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at the time of his death.
After he was married the family moved to Mason County and lived there several years, then to Cooke County and after a few years to Wise County. They have lived in Texas the last 25 years, where they reared a fine family of honorable Christian children.
Funeral services were held at the Pleasant Grove Baptist church Thursday afternoon, January 7, at 3 o'clock conducted by former pastor and lifelong friend, Rev. D. E. Acker assisted by Rev. F. W. Cowger.
Internment was made in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, and nine children. Mrs. D.H. Roach of Lubbock; Texas. Mrs. W.H. Sheppard of Fort Cobb, Oklahoma; Mrs. D.V. Jones of Rocky Oklahoma; Mrs. Ted Roach of Forestburg, Texas; W.E, Stone of Anadarko, Oklahoma; W. C Stone of Selling, Oklahoma; Bryan Stone, of Lubbock, Texas. Herman and V.J. Stone of Decatur, Texas. Two brothers, Joe Stone of Rosston, Texas and Virgil Stone of Apache, Oklahoma. Thirty-Five grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
