CAMPBELL, Alice Mae, age 88, of Birmingham, wife of the late William "Jack" Campbell, passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2008.

She was born Alice Mae Stout, February 8, 1920 in Nescopeck, Pennsylvania to the late Samuel F. Stout, Sr. and Mabel Lillian Stout (nee Hammond). She settled in Royal Oak, MI at the age of nine, when a small family home was willed to her by family.

When she was young, she worked in a defense plant in Ferndale after WWII. She later worked for Burroughs (now known as UNISYS), then EDS. She retired after 30 years.

As her parents aged, Alice was their caregiver. She took care of both of them until their passing. She was always very good to her parents and her siblings. Although she never had children of her own, she loved all children.

One of the highlights of her life was meeting William "Jack" Campbell, whom she would later marry. He also retired from Burroughs. The two were happily married for 30 years before Jack passed. They enjoyed traveling to Virginia Beach together to visit family and friends.

In her free time, Alice loved to knit and crochet for those in nursing homes and for her nieces and nephews. She was known as "Agee" to many little kids in her neighborhood.

Alice was a delightful woman who was devoted to her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by three brothers: Harold H. Stout, Robert S. Stout, and Samuel F Stout, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca Mooney, and two brothers, Alvin H. Stout and William W. Stout.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 from 2-8pm at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel) 32515 Woodward Ave (btwn 13-14 Mile).

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at 11:00am. Burial will take place at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley, next to her husband.

Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Detroit Methodist Children's Home Society, 26645 W. Six Mile Rd., Redford, MI 48240.
