On October 11, 1902, he was united in marriage with Josephine Brody at Urbana, Iowa, where they resided until they moved to Minnesota in 1903. Since 1903 he has farmed and operated a sawmill in Ponto Lake Township.
Mr. Tilbury entered the St. Joseph Hospital at Brainerd on March 3, and passed to his eternal reward Thursday, March 30, 1961 at the age of 83 years.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine of Backus; three sons, Roy of Backus, Verl William Tilbury of Seattle, Washington, and James Silas Tilbury of Twisp, Washington; three daughters, Lela Reynolds, Mrs. Arnold (Violet) Anderson, both of Backus, and Mrs. Harry (Erma) Forseen of Mt. Iwon, also 32 granchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Mae Tilbury.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, April 3rd. Pallbearers included Leonard Noah Sawyer , Leslie Sawyer, Kenneth Sawyer, Roy Peterson, Martin Anderson, and Ole Foss.
Present from out of town were three sisters of Mrs. Tilbury, Mrs. J. A. Gordon of Paradisse, Louisiana; Mrs. Dick Lahue of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Mrs. and Mrs. Ray Primmer of Minneapolis, Minn; a grandson, Verl Tilbury of Lutsen, Minn.; and a granddaughter, Mrs. Clarence Keep of Little Fork, Minn.
