Harriet Frances (Babcock) Lowell was the daughter of James Ross and Ruth (Phillips) Babcock. She was the wife of Rev. Carlos Gould Lowell. They were married Fremont, Steuben Co., New York August 14, 1866. Rev. Lowell was a minister in the East Genesee Conference and Genesee Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He died December 6, 1905.

Mrs. Harriet Lowell, widow of the late Rev. Carlos Gould Lowell, passed away at her home in Angelica, New York, the second of October, 1936, in her ninety-third year. Reared in a home of Christian refinement, she carried throughout her life with unswerving devotion, the influence of her early training. After graduation from Rogerville Seminary, she chose to teach until her marriage to the Rev. Carlos Gould Lowell, August 14, 1866. Their first charge in the ministry was at Fremont, New York. Then followed successful pastorates at Troupsburg, Brookfield, Pa.; Nunda, Cameron, Whitesville, Blossburg, Pa.; Painted Post, Naples, Canisteo, Livonia, Perry, Angelica, Cohocton, Woodside and Sumner Place in Buffalo, New York. She was a devoted member of the church, an active helpmate of her husband during his ministry of forty years. She was greatly interested in all missionary activity and a member of the W.C.T.U. for over fifty years. She is survived by four sons: Edward of Cleveland, Ohio; Willian and Carlos of Buffalo, New York, Julian of Rochester, New York, and two daughters, Bertha L. Seiver of Great Neck, Long Island, and Harriet L. Goff of Chevy Chase, Maryland. Twenty-one grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren also survive her. Funeral services were held in the Angelica Methodist Episcopal Church, the Rev. Alfred J. Gross officiating.
