Reared in a home of Christian refinement, she carried throughout her life with unswerving devotion, the influence of her early training. After graduation from Rogerville Seminary, she chose to teach until her marriage to the Rev. Carlos Gould Lowell, August 14, 1866. Their first charge in the ministry was at Fremont, New York. Then followed successful pastorates at Troupsburg, Brookfield, Pa.; Nunda, Cameron, Whitesville, Blossburg, Pa.; Painted Post, Naples, Canisteo, Livonia, Perry, Angelica, Cohocton, Woodside and Sumner Place in Buffalo, New York. She was a devoted member of the church, an active helpmate of her husband during his ministry of forty years. She was greatly interested in all missionary activity and a member of the W.C.T.U. for over fifty years. She is survived by four sons: Edward of Cleveland, Ohio; Willian and Carlos of Buffalo, New York, Julian of Rochester, New York, and two daughters, Bertha L. Seiver of Great Neck, Long Island, and Harriet L. Goff of Chevy Chase, Maryland. Twenty-one grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren also survive her.
