Juan José Carrillo y Bandini was the son of Pedro Catarino Carrillo y Castro (BP Baptism 00528) and María Josefa Ramona Maxima Bandini y Estudillo (SD Baptism 05520). He was born at Santa Bárbara, Alta California, México, where he was baptized in the Presidio Chapel by Fr. Narciso Durán on September 19, 1842 (BP Baptism 00528). He married Francisca Roldan on October 7, 1868. He served for many years as a Los Angeles county sheriff and later as a judge. Judge Carrillo served as mayor of Santa Mónica from 1890 until 1897. He was the father of actor and conservationist Leo Carrillo, and Ygnacio Carrillo.
