Calvin Perciville Adams, was the first of ten children born to Robert and Martha (Lyon) Adams. He was born on 1 Jun 1867 at Saybrook, in McLean county in Illinois. In Oct. 1873 his parents and their four children moved "Out West" to Pittsburg, Kansas and Later when Calvin was about 16 years old, they moved to Ness county in western Kansas. It was here that he met and married Nancy Hannah Zickefoose on 1 Apr 1889, in Ness County, Kansas.

Nancy Hannah Zickefoose was born 6 Mar 1871 in Fayette county in West Virginia. Her father was Marshall Annen Zickefoose, born 10 Aug 1847 in Virginia and died 28 Jan 1933, in Russell Twp., Camden County, Missouri. Her mother was Isabelle F. (Burdett) Zickefoose born 4 Sep 1847 in Fayette county, West Virginia and died 22 Oct 1881 in Ness County, Kansas. They were married on 10 Feb 1870, in Fayette County, West Virginia. She had moved with her parents form West Virginia to Republic county in north central Kansas and later to Ness county, Kansas.
From 1894 to 1901 they lived 5 miles north of Pawnee, Oklahoma Indian Territory. In 1901 they and Cal's Parents moved back to Attica in Harper county, Kansas. Cal and Nancy settled on a farm west of town while his father took the pastorate in town. In 1926 Cal and Nancy moved to a farm in Barber county in south central Kansas. He owned 960 acres northwest of Hardtner where he live until their death.

Cal died 16 Feb 1953, and Nancy 25 Nov 1951, Both in Hardtner, Barber County, Kansas. They and their eldest child "Dottie" are buried beside Cal's parents in the city cemetery in Attica, Harper county, Kansas.
