In this community, where she was known best and longest. her friends, were many. While a fond lover of children, she was never blessed with motherhood, but was foster mother to Mrs. Dora Mitchell of this city. In her religious life she was quiet and retiring. She was converted in a revival meeting in the Baptist church in Flora under the ministry of Rev. Cable. After some time spent in prayerful consideration of the subject she became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church in this city and maintained her membership there till the time of her translation to "the general assembly and the church of the first born, which are written in heaven."
She was one of a family of nine children, six of whom had preceded her in death.
She leaves one brother, David, near Oskaloosa, Ill., and one sister, Mrs. Francis Hunt, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., together with her bereaved husband and many friends who are afflicted by her death.
During her illness she repeatedly expressed the conviction that she would not recover, but she as many times said that all was well with her, "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord."
Funeral services were held in the M. E. church Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. conducted by Dr. Flint, the pastor. Mrs. McBrlde's death brought deep sorrow in her numerous friends in Flora, where she has resided most of her life. Friends and relatives from many parts of the county were in attendance at the funeral ceremonies.
