Mrs. Virginia Cobbs McPhail, 95, of Spring Avenue, South Boston died November 19, 2006 at the Woodview. She was born in Danville on November 24, 1910, a daughter of the late Mr. Peter Cobbs and Mrs. Victoria Brewer Cobbs and was married to the late Mr. Patrick Henry McPhail. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and owned and operated G&W Grill in Downtown South Boston.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lauretta M. Martin of South Boston; grandchildren, Dr. Patrick McPhail Martin and wife Sharla of Nashville, TN, Mr. Bristol Martin, III of Silver Springs, MD, Dr. Georgette H. McRay and husband James of Raleigh, NC and Ms. Gloria D. Hill of Chesapeake; one son-in-law, Mr. Bristol Martin, Jr. of South Boston; a devoted friend, Mrs. Mary B. Kent of South Boston. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Virnetta M. Hill.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. James M. Crowder officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Garden Cemetery. Public viewing will be held today from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to a charity of your choice. News & Record.
