Captain Roland Henry Baker, Sr of the U.S. Navy served on the USS Mount Vernon a former German passenger liner called the Kronprinzessin Cecile which was seized by the U.S. Navy while transporting gold from Nazi sympathizers to Germany . On 5 Sep 1918 the USS Mount Vernon was torpedoed by a German submarine.

Captain Roland Henry Baker, Sr 9 (1 May 1897 West Newton, Middlesex, Mass - 27 Jan 1985 Elkins, Merrimack, N.H.) a veteran of World War I and son of Frederic Warren Kidder Baker 8 (1872 – 1941) and Ada Foss 8 (1876 - 1951 one of the Heavenly Twins, singer, daughter of author and adventurer James Henry Foss).

In 1921 in Chelsea, Suffolk, Mass, he married first: Ethel Gertrude "Nana or Gert" Lenfest (30 Sep 1898 Chelsea, Suffolk, Mass - 2 Feb 1995 in Nashville, Davidson, Tenn) daughter of Charles Grant Lenfest 4 (21 Dec 1868 Cambridge, Mass - 26 Jan 1927 Boston, Mass) and Maria Adela Sampson 9 (3 Oct 1867 Boston, Suffolk, Mass - 14 Aug 1949 Belmont, Middlesex, Mass). Roland H Baker, Sr and Gertrude Lenfest had two children:

1) Lt Col. Roland Henry Baker, Jr 10 (10 October 1923 Chelsea, Suffolk, Mass - 12 June 1994 in Nashville, Davidson, Tenn) a aircraft carrier pilot in World War II and the Korean War who received the Distinguished Flying Cross from the President of the United States for his service over the Island of Japan. He married 1st Cornelia "Connie" Keyworth (1932 – 2013) and had two daughters: Kathryn Ann "Kathy" Baker and Carey Lee Baker. He married second Joan Leonard Chadbourne 12 and had one son Roland Henry Baker III. He adopted Joan's three daughters from a previous marriage: Sivea, Gwyn and Meg Cattelll. He married third Emily Kay Carter, no children with Emily.

2) Jean Baker (7 February 1928 in Belmont, Middlesex, Mass - 21 Feb 2003 Falmouth, Barnstable, Mass) who had three daughters: Robin, Susan and Kim.

Daughter of Alfred E Cleveland (Jul 1872 in New York –) and Minetta Eleanor Rietz (Dec 1875 in Wisconsin –). Dorothy Cleveland and Roland H Baker, Sr had one daughter:
