ERVIN CRAWFORD GOODWIN
Ervin Crawford Goodwin, who was an officer of the American Expeditionary Force during the World war, is now devoting his energies to investment banking and figures prominently in financial circles of Seattle. He was born in Spokane, Washington, June 26, 1896, and is a son of E. S. Goodwin, a successful realtor, of whom extended mention is made elsewhere in this volume. Ervin C. Goodwin was a pupil in the Lowell grammar school and completed a course in the Broadway high school of Seattle in 1914. Afterward he enrolled as a student in the University of Washington but in 1917 left college to enter the service of his country. He enlisted in the United States army and won the commission of second lieutenant. He went overseas with the Nineteenth Regiment of field artillery, a unit of the Fifth Division.
After receiving his honorable discharge Mr. Goodwin returned to Seattle and entered the Seaboard National Bank, in which he was a teller for three and a half years. In 1922 he embarked in the investment banking business as a member of the firm of Fraser & Goodwin, which since January 1, 1925, has been Fraser, Goodwin & Colver Investment Counsel. This institution was established for the purpose of giving unbiased advice to purchasers of stocks and bonds and offers to its clients the benefit of expert counsel in the selection of investments. That investors are appreciative of this specialized service is indicated by the rapid growth of the business, which was started on a small scale in the Alaska building, and the firm now occupies spacious offices in the Douglas building. Mr. Goodwin is president of Diversified Investments, Inc., Investment Managers, Inc., and a director of Anderson, Wilson & Company, all prosperous concerns which owe their stability and prestige to his administrative power and mature judgment.
On the 26th of January, 1925, Mr. Goodwin was married in Denver, Colorado, to Miss Lillian Young, and they now have a daughter, Lillian Mathilde. Mr. Goodwin is a member of the University Club, the Sand Point Golf Club, and Phi Delta Theta, a college fraternity. His Masonic affiliations are with Arcana Lodge, No. 87, F. & A. M.; Washington Consistory of the Scottish Rite and Nile Temple of the Mystic Shrine. He is a young man of fine character, endowed with more than average ability, and his influence is one of broadening activity and strength in the field in which he is operating.
