Reason Turner was born in August 1858 in Missouri, son of Joseph Turner and Mary {maiden name unknown}.

In 1880, Reason was age 22 and single, and living in Washington, Missouri {DeKalb County}, with his father, a farmer, age 47, born in Missouri, and his mother, age 47, born in Indiana; and his six siblings: John, age 26; Mary, age 16; Laura, age 15; Columbus, age 11; Joseph, age 9; and Louela, age 20. Also living with them was Louela's daughter, Martha, age 3. All of the children were born in Missouri.

In about 1891, Reason married Henrietta Louise "Etta" Rogers, who was born July 31, 1871, in Independence Missouri {Jackson County}, daughter of Benjamin Hartford Rogers {1837-1892} and Mandana Chase {1842-1887}. Reason was about 13 years older than his young bride.

Reason and Etta packed their belongings and moved to Oklahoma on September 22, 1891 to homestead a quarter section of land in Lincoln County. Reason's father and brothers also moved to Oklahoma and farmed in the vicinity of where Reason was farming.

Reason and Etta had three children: Roy Joseph, Lena Mae, and Viola Belle. Reason continued to farm but also successfully operated a livery stable for a number of years in the town of Kendrick, a small town about six miles north of Davenport. Reason unexpectedly died in 1909 and was buried in the Bethel Greenwood Cemetery in Kendrick. That left Etta, a 39-year old widow, with no means to support her three children. She sold the livery stable and moved to Davenport and ultimately to Oklahoma City.
