Solomon Howard Blankenship 18 of Oark was drowned this afternoon about
5 o'clock when he and a companion, Truman Wilkins, of the Ludwig Community, were
swimming in Ripple Hole on Spadra Creek near Clarksville. An inquest will be
held Tuesday morning ,according to L.D. Hardwick, coroner. The body is being
held at the Hardwick Funeral Home until arrangements are completed.

A verdict of accidental drowning was returned Monday night by coroner L.D.
Hardwick, after an investigation of the drowning Monday afternoon of Solomon
Howard Blankenship, 18 year old Oark youth.

Blankenship, the son of Mr. and Mrs Tate of Oark (Step-son), was drowned in
Ripple Hole Spadra Creek, at a point one mile south of Clarksville, when
Blankenship, said not to have been a good swimmer, got beyond his depth and
sank.

In addition to his mother, Blankenship is survived by his step-father, E.W. Tate
and five brothers, Ernest, Paul (Blankenship) Archie, Edward Lee and Gerald
Blankenship (Should be Tate) all of Oark.

Burial in Patterson Springs Cemetery near Oark.
