Rozella Marie Burnside, 71, of Springfield died at 3:35 p.m. Friday at St. John's Hospital. She was born Jan. 24, 1921, in Norton, Mo., the daughter of Arthur Lee and Goldie Marie Brown Griffitts. She married John Burnside in 1939 and he preceded her in death in 1988. Also preceding her in death were two sons; one grandson; and one brother, Robert "Arthur" Griffitts.
Mrs. Burnside was a homemaker and a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Nancy) Williams and Miss Edra Burnside, both of Springfield; one son, John M. of Springfield; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; seven brothers, Edgar, Raymond, Harold, Harley, Horace and Harry Griffitts, all of Springfield, and Henry Griffitts of Layton, Utah; three sisters, Sopie Birchard of Taylorville, Roberta Brunner of Springfield, and Violet Murray of LaMonte, Mo.; several nieces and nephews.
Remains will be cremated. Graveside services in Oak Ridge Cemetery, with the Rev. Jack Williams officiating.
