This is Leroy Whitfield "Roy" Nance son of A. W. Nance and Lovey A. (Hardwick) Nance.

Obituary from the "King City Chronicle (King City, Gentry, MO)". November 19, 1937 at page 1.

ROY NANCE, A FORMER RESIDENT HERE, DIES Funeral services for Roy Nance, brother of Charles W. Nance, of King City, were held at the Gromer Funeral Home at Pattonsburg, Tuesday afternoon, at 1:30, and burial was in the Freeman cemetery near the old Nance home. W. C. Whitehouse conducted the services.
Mr. Nance was brought from Kansas City, about a week ago, to the home of his sister, Miss Ollie Nance, who resided at the Nance homestead, where he passed away on Monday morning.
He will be remembered by many here, as he once resided in King City and worked in the grocery store of T. A Campbell. Then many from this community had kept in touch with him as they marketed their livestock through the commission firms in St. Joseph and Kansas City with which he was connected.
The following obituary was read at the service:

LeRoy Whjtfield Nance, son of Archibald Whitfield and Lovey Amanda Hardwick Nance, was born on a farm eight miles west of Pattonsburg, August 20, 1874, at which place he grew to manhood; he departed this life November 15, 1937, at the home where he was born. All the education he ever received in school was that of his barefoot boy days, where he trudged five miles each day to the old one-room school house. The remainder of his education came from the school of experience.
He was married September 4, 1901, to Maude Auldridge, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Auldridge, of Pattonsburg. She preceded him in death. To this union three children were born, Mrs. Carmon Green, who departed this life March 4, 1933; Gordon, of Hollywood, Calif., and Dale of Kansas City.
In the early years of his married life he was engaged in farming near Pattonsburg. The last twenty-seven years he has been in the Live Stock Commission business in St. Joseph and Kansas City, where he has drawn to himself a large circle of friends throughout the St Joseph and Kansas City trade territory.
He leaves to mourn his loss the two sons; one grand-daughter, Barbara Ellen; four brothers: Wiley W., of Pattonsburg; Chaa. W., of King City; Davis Ely, of Colorado Springs and Nimrod, of Pattonsburg; three sisters: Miss Ollie A., of Pattonsburg: Mrs. Carrie Childers of Temple, Oklahoma, and Miss Evelyn, of Los Angeles, California.
Roy lead an honest and industrious life, all of which he spent working for others. His ambitions were too great for his physical strength, resulting in poor health for the last few years. He will be greatly miss ed by his family and associates.
Those from here who attended the funeral of Mr. Nance at Pattonsburg, Tuesday afternoon were: his brother, Chas. W. Nance, and his nephew and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Arch Nance, and his niece, Mrs. C E. Petty.
