Iowa State Trooper Harold Klinkefus was killed when his car struck a tractor-trailer on U.S. 34, near Red Oak. Another car attempted a left turn, and the semi stopped suddenly in order to avoid a collision, the truck jackknifed, and struck trooper Klinkefus' car, causing him to be ejected.
