Cpl. James A. Davis was killed in action February 17, 1945. Official word of the death of their son, Cpl. James A. Davis, was received by Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Davis Sunday morning.

He was reported missing in action December 26, 1944 over Yugoslavia, then two weeks later they received a message telling them that he was safe and well.

Cpl. Davis was 24 years old and has been serving in the Air Corps over two years. He was engineer gunner with a Liberator group at the time of his death over Italy. Awarded the Distinguished Unit Badge and one Bronze Cluster.

Cpl. Davis, Jimmy, as he was known here, graduated in the class of 1940 from Chattanooga High School and before entering the Air Force was employed by the Tennessee Valley Authority.
