Kelsi Marie Essner, 8, of Benton, died Dec. 15, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Nov. 14, 1993, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Ronald Joseph and Laura Anne Riley Essner, she was a second grade student at St. Denis Catholic School. She was also a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Benton.
Survivors in addition to her parents include: four brothers, Ryan Essner, Lance Essner, Ross Essner and Seth Essner; her paternal grandparents, Paul and Geneva Essner; and her maternal grandparents, Richard Riley and Carol Riley.
Visitation was held at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton, where a prayer service was scheduled.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Denis Catholic Church with the Rev. Normand Varone and the Rev. James Seyer officiating.
Burial followed in the St. Denis Cemetery.
