Charles was a kind man who loved his wife and family. He loved to shop at yard sales and watch Alabama play football. He was a huge Alabama fan and would rarely wear a shirt that was not an Alabama football shirt. He was also rarely seen without his Alabama cap.

Charles grew up in Arab and graduated from Arab High School. He worked at Mueller for 29 years and was on his way to work when he died. It was his last night to work before his Christmas break.

Charles married Dottie Lang on May 31, 1980. He said he wanted their anniversary to be either the first of the month or the last of the month so he would never forget the date. After marrying Dottie, he lived in Guntersville until his death.

Charles is survived by his wife, Dottie Sue Lang Harvell; his mother Vera Lou Ellenburg Harvell of Arab; 2 brothers, Henry Harvell of Arab and James Harvell of Alaska; a sister, Martha Frances Harvell of Arab; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law L.V. and Gloria Jean Lang of Arab. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Edward Harvell, and his brother Jimmy Harvell.

The pallbears were Gary Simth, Ricky Brock, Herbert Childs (all three worked at Mueller with Charles), Thomas Harvell (nephew of Charles), Rickey Lang, and Billy Miller. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Alexander, Cleveland Hale, and Lyle Lang (also nephew of Charles).

Charles was a great man and will be missed by all.

Cause of death:
Auto accident.
