William Worth Cochran, son of Judge Michael Cochran and Catharine Murphy Cochran, was born and lived in Cochran's Mills, Pennsylvania. He ran away from home to enlist in the Civil War, as he was under age, and died in service.

William enlisted June 10, 1863, and died a few months later. p. 530 William died Jan 6, 1864, of chronic diarrhea. (Dickey, History of the 103rd Regiment, pp. 79-80.) His remains were buried on Roanoke Island but were moved to the National Cemetery at New Bern, N.C., Plot 7, Grave 108. p. 531
