ELWOOD--Harry H. Proctor, 80, died shortly after noon Saturday when a farm tractor he was using to pull a wagon load of corn collided with a Norfolk and Western Railroad train.
The accident occurred at the railroad crossing on Madison County Road 700-W. Proctor's tractor was crossing the tracks and the train struck the left rear tire, pushing the tractor into a ditch.
An Elwood farmer, Proctor was a native of Brookville. He was a World War I veteran and a member of the Disabled American War Veterans.
Survivors are his wife, Mabel; one son, Morris, Elwood; two daughters, Mrs. Jane Morehead, Alexandria, and Mrs. Maryellen Norris, Elwood; two brothers, Roscoe and Elzie, both of Elwood; one sister, Mrs. Blanch Heritage, Anderson; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Copher and Fesler Funeral Home, Elwood, with Rev. Herb Windgard officiating. Burial will be in Elwood City Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Monday.
