R&B/Blues Musician. A native of Greensboro, North Carolina, and the brother of the late musician Arthur Prysock, he was a noted tenor saxophonist on the Old Town Record Label who backed his brother and several other artists including Tiny Bradshaw, on many songs throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Prysock was also a noted jukebox artist for the Mercury Record Label in the 1950s. Prysock's songs include, 'The Fox,' 'Charleston Twist,' 'Riffin' With Red,' 'Lion's Den,' 'Head Snappin',' 'Foot Stompin',' 'Purple Wail,' 'Rock & Roll,' 'He's A Real Gone Guy,' 'Earth Rock,' and 'Plaid Laces.' He also led the 'Red Prysock Band.' A veteran of World War II, he served with the United States Army. Prysock passed away on July 19, 1993, at the age of 66, in Chicago, Illinois.
