Eric Gustav Gustafson, 93, of rural Oakville died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born Feb. 17, 1915, in Ulrika, Sweden, he was the son of Eric Verner and Signe Johansson Gustafson. On Aug. 25, 1940, he married Betty M. Cavender in Burlington. She died Oct. 28, 2008.

Mr. Gustafson farmed. He graduated from Yarmouth High School. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mediapolis, which he helped build. He was a master carpenter. He enjoyed carpentry and antiquing.

Survivors include two daughters, Diane Stoller of Ellington, Conn., and Donna Perdelwitz of Oakville; three grandchildren; one sister, Elsa Scott of Dubuque; nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis where the family will receive friends.

The private funeral for Mr. Gustafson will be at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home. Burial will be in Kossuth Cemetery, Mediapolis.

A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
