He was killed 8 Jan 1863, in the Second Battle of Springfield, MO. The battle, although small was unique to the Civil War in that it involved urban combat, house-to-house and street-to-street fighting.
His two brothers, John Marshall Lee and Furman DeWitt Lee, as well as his two brother-in-laws, Levi Fisher and Isaac Myers, fought in the Civil War for the Union army.
