Thorton Weaver, 81, Mt. Salem Road, London, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at his home.
A Laurel County native he was born April 22, 1927, the son of the late Jim Frank and Grace Bowling Weaver.
He was a retired House Oil truck drive, a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II as a seaman second class, a Mason and a member of Union United Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Crystalene Rush Weaver; two children, Garry Weaver and wife, Kathy, and Connie Young and husband, Tommy, all of London; a sister, Ruby Melton Forks, Bend, Ore.; five grandchildren, Stacy Young Fields, Dana Weaver Black, Gabe Weaver, Jeff Weaver and Brad Young; four great-grandchildren, Kalyn Fields, Drake Weaver, Elizabeth Anne Black and Haley Fields.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, at the House-Rawlings Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Roy Hamlin, Denny McCowan and Craig Morgan officiating.

Burial followed in the Rough Creek Cemetery, London.

Pallbearers were Brad Young, Gabe Weaver, Jeff Weaver, Ernie House, Deverle Humfleet and Stuart House.

Honorary pallbearers were Robert Vaughn, Quentin Byrley, Don Fiechter, David Hensley, Doug Day, Willard Bowling, Wayne Bowling, Randall Rudder, Bob Hopper, Tom Proffitt and Chris Goodin.
